The NERC Environmental Data Service aims to make environmental data available, accessible, and re-usable, in order to fully realise their value. Day-to-day in the data centres the EDS provides access to datasets via the EDS data catalogue, and issues Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

EDS staff are experienced in the collection of scientific information, state-of-the-art data management, preservation techniques, and application development. This expertise is shared both nationally and globally via various engagement activities and training events, as well as through answering user enquiries.
