Kia ora from Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington
Join us in Wellington, New Zealand, the cultural and creative heart of Aotearoa, for iPRES 2025 -- the 21st International Conference on Digital Preservation.
iPRES 2025 will take place at the state-of-the-art Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre, and online, from November 3rd to 7th 2025. The conference is proudly hosted by the National Library of New Zealand and Archives New Zealand.
iPRES is an international community of digital preservation researchers and practitioners. A key element of iPRES conferences is their inclusiveness. Experts from all parts of the world contribute to shaping the conference to ensure that it meets the needs of both seasoned and new digital preservation practitioners, and that the programme embraces new perspectives. Since its inception in 2004, iPRES conferences have been held across four continents. However, this will be the first-ever iPRES in Aotearoa New Zealand, and only the second time it has been hosted in the South Pacific.
Acknowledging Mana Whenua
iPRES 2025 is taking place on the land of Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika, who were living in the Wellington Harbour area at the time of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. Taranaki Whānui descend from one or more of the recognised tūpuna of Te Ati Awa, Taranaki, Ngati Ruanui, Ngati Tama, Ngati Mutunga and other iwi from the Taranaki area.
We are committed to upholding relationships with mana whenua and ensuring that the tīkanga (customs) and kawa (protocols) of Te Ao Māori are upheld and embedded throughout the event.
