The British Data Awards is an annual quest that sets out to discover and celebrate the UK’s data success stories. The awards also help to showcase the organisations and people that are truly passionate about data. A record 448 entries were submitted for the fifth edition of the British Data Awards, so competition to be named a finalist, let alone a winner was particularly tough. Organisations taking part include FTSE 100 companies, innovative start-ups, government departments, not-for-profits, and everything in between.

Mari Whitelaw, Alexandra Knight (from DinMo), Helen Peat, Lucy Stephenson, and Sarah Manthorpe.
The British Data Awards judge said: “I’d like to extend my congratulations to all our 2025 Winners. With 40% more entries received this year compared to 2024, being named a winner really is a major achievement. All our winners should feel incredibly proud because they embody the vibrancy, diversity and sheer strength of the UK’s data ecosystem…Congratulations to the UK Polar Data Centre, British Antarctic Survey for staying cool as they collected the fiercely contested 'Data Team of the Year (<20 People)' category at the British Data Awards 2025. (It is) most compelling how the data team get out of their office to work with their colleagues in inhospitable environments."
Mari Whitelaw, Helen Peat, Lucy Stephenson, and Sarah Manthorpe collected the award at a ceremony which took place at The Brewery in London and was hosted by the comedian Jo Caulfield.
Congratulations to the team!
