NERC EDS training webinar: Research Data Management in 2 hours

The NERC Environmental Data Service (EDS) is inviting all PIs in host research centres who hold a NERC Grant to attend training on Research Data Management (RDM) as a vital part of the grant process for those producing data. Alternatively, if there is a designated Data Manager or a more suitable member of the grant team who is handling data management, please forward on the invite to them.
This training event will give an overview of RDM and the NERC EDS. It will be presented by members of the EDS Training and Skills Delivery Group.
Topics will include:
- Introduction to the NERC Environmental Data Service
- NERC data policy
- FAIR and CARE principles
- Open Science
- FAIR Wizard and Data Management Plans (DMPs)
- Data Collection & Management
- Data lifecycle storage and backup
- Metadata and publishing
- Finding data

Who should join?
Anyone working with data as part of their research, including NERC grant holders and PIs, Early Career Researchers and PhD students.
Why is this important?
Effective data management is essential to ensure good data quality and accuracy, collaboration and data sharing, transparency of processes, and effective decision-making. All NERC grant holders are required to deposit their data with an EDS data centre within two years of completing their project. This training will assist NERC funded researchers in fulfilling their obligations in effective data management and deposit under the NERC Data Policy.
